Got an email from my oncologist this morning. He met with the surgeons at tumor board yesterday and Dr. Staley has agreed to meet with me about the risks and advantages of surgically removing my GIST tumor. YEAH!!! I feel like I’ve had a reprieve from the governor.Dr. Staley is the head of surgical oncology at Emory. He has been involved with surgery with me before so I know him and he is a great guy. Dr. Kauh (my regular oncologist) has said that he wants me to be on 800 mgs. of Gleevec for 2 weeks and then he will do another PET scan to see if there is any change in the tumor with the additional doseage. Keep praying and as you know I will keep fighting and be as aggressive as I can be. Love, Pat
