hospital stay
hi! Wanted to let all of you know (though some already do) that I have spent the better part of this week in Emory hospital. I have not felt good since the ablation. On Mon. I started to bleed. Called my oncologist he said to come into get my blood drawn. Went into lab and my count was down to 9 from 11.5 6 weeks ago and my creatinine (kidney function) was not good. They sent me to infusion for 2 bags of blood and while they’re infusing me down walks my oncologist to tell me that as soon as they had a bed that they were admitting me. So they did and after being prodded, stuck and probed by gyno teams, infectious disease teams, surgical and oncology teams they decided that they needed to go in surgically to find out where the blood was coming from. They also replaced my port that had a hole in it with a new more powerful port, while I was under anesthesia. After the OR they sent me for an MRI and determined that my tumor is bleeding and that it is wrapped around the ureter from my kidney and that I had a severe bacterial infection. They have pumped me with fluids, antibiotics etc. The bleeding has stopped and the infection seems to be less severe. They let me come home today because I begged them so that I could go to Toni’s bridal shower. I go back to see my oncologist on Mon and I’m sure to the kidney doc next week too.I feel OK just tired. Keep me in your prayers. I’ll let y’all know what happens next. Love, Pat
