I’m home
YEAH!!! I’m home. As of this morning the 2 units of blood that I received yesterday must have worked because my blood counts came up and my creatinine (kidney function) came down. I have a tube and what they call a nephroscamy inserted in my left kidney so that kind of smarts but am feeling better and so glad to be home. So now I’m a” two bagger”. Hopefully this bag won’t last more than 2 weeks. The plan is for me to see my oncologist again next week and the following week to see Dr. Ogen who is the kidney specialist. He hopes to be able to go in from the top of my kidney to try to put in a stint since the blockage is at the bottom. If that makes sense. Dr. Kauh, who is my oncologist met with the tumor board the other night to look at scans to figure out if my cancer has spread and is causing this blockage. They concluded that they are “cautiously optomistic” that the cancer has not spread but may have been “altered” (my word) from the ablation that I had 6 weeks ago and could be causing the blockage or it could be scarring from the ablation. Either way I feel like a bum kidney may be the trade-off for trying to get rid of the tumor. They said that only time and future scans will tell the cancer situation. So even though I’ve undergone some pretty brutal stuff the last couple of weeks I feel confident that 6 mos. down the line I’ll look back at it all and know that it was a fair trade-off for getting me cancer free. Does that make sense. I’m sorry that I’ll have to miss my trip to Craig’s wedding in New Orleans this weekend but am sure that all of you understand. Thanks to all of you that called, sent prayers and good wishes. I am the most blessed person in the world to have the love and support from all of you. I want all of you to also say a special prayer of thanks for Peggy Mills who never left my side for these two weeks. God truly blessed me when he sent her into my life.
Love, Pat
